Mapping Sacred Rome

MAPPING
Sacred Rome

About

About the Project:
Mapping Sacred Rome is an interactive digital project that aims to interpret scholarly research on Roman religious spaces and make it more accessible to a wider public. The project explores the religious shift through architectural layering and the adaptation of imagery. Users are encouraged to explore the transformative sacred spaces of Rome and understand how historical change is preserved, rather than erased.

Developed as part of an academic research project, Mapping Sacred Rome demonstrates how digital tools can make complex historical and archaeological material more accessible and engaging for a wider audience.

About the Developer:
Samantha Hood is a graduating Art History student of the University of Central Missouri. As part of her Honors College capstone project, Mapping Sacred Rome demonstrates her interest in interpretive writing and accessible design. Coming from a diverse cultural background, Samantha is passionate about inclusivity and representation.

Outside of school, she is a practicing artist and an active member of the Third Pine Artist Collective. There, she is a member of the exhibition committee, furthering her passion for curatorial work. Samantha plans to pursue a Masters in Art History and hopes to work in a museum in curatorial or interpretation.
